DECLARING REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT 13 BINGHAMTON STREET (TAX MAP NO. 87.14-1-6) IN THE CITY OF ALBANY NO LONGER NECESSARY FOR PUBLIC USE

By Audit and Finance Committee:
WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 149 for 2025, this Honorable Body authorized the purchase of three parcels of real property located at 877 S Pearl Street (Tax Map No. 87.9-3-2), 13 Binghamton Street (Tax Map No. 87.10-2-3.1), and 13 Binghamton Street (Tax Map No. 87.14-1-6) in the City of Albany from Albany LLC to develop a regional fire training facility, in a final total amount of $999,000, and
WHEREAS, Momentum Environmental has reached out to Albany County’s real estate advisor, Cresa Associates, regarding an offer to purchase this parcel for $1,200,000, and
WHEREAS, The County Executive’s Office has identified 13 Binghamton Street (Tax Map No. 87.14-1-6) as unnecessary for the development and construction of the proposed training center, and has requested that it be designated “no longer necessary for public use”
WHEREAS, Pursuant to § 65-3 of the Albany County Code, a parcel of real property owned by the County of Albany shall be deemed “no longer necessary for public use” prior to any conveyance of said real property, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, the pursuant to County Law § 215 and § 65-3 of the Albany County Code, the Albany County Legislature hereby declares 13 Binghamton Street (Tax Map No. 87.14-1-6) in the City of Albany is deemed “no longer necessary for public use” and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said document as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
