AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION REGARDING THE URBAN COMMUNITY REFORESTATION GRANTS PROGRAM

By Conservation, Sustainability, and Green Initiatives Committee:
WHEREAS, The Director of the Department of Economic Development, Conservation, and Planning has requested authorization to submit a grant application to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation regarding the Urban Community Reforestation Grants program, and
WHEREAS, The Director has indicated that the funding, if awarded, will be used to establish new areas of forest, supplement existing seedlings in existing forests, replant trees after disturbance, restore forest stands, and control competing vegetation to ensure forest health, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation regarding the Urban Community Reforestation Grants program, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said grant application as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
