DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)

This project seeks to renovate the old Freight Depot building standing at 839 Kenwood Avenue, Slingerlands, along the Albany County Rail Trail. The County acquired the property at the end of 2018, with the hope of enhancing the experience of those using the Rail Trail. The renovated Depot would be lifted and a foundation would be added beneath it. Electric, water and sewer access would be added to the building. In addition to these infrastructure essentials, the community facility would add amenities as well as health information and services for trail visitors, such as blood pressure measurement and interactive displays. The outside of the building will have a porch, rocking chairs, and landscaping, all adding to the attractiveness of visiting the trailhead and Slingerlands in general.
