Mr. Peter Hotaling, the Assessor for the Town of Rensselaerville, has submitted an Applications for Corrected Tax Roll to correct an erroneous 2026 property tax bill issued for 90 Bates Ln, Town of Rensselaerville, Tax Map Identification # 181.-1-17.11.
The property owner of 90 Bates Ln paid their school tax bill to the Greenville Central School District on December 15, 2025. However, due to a clerical error as defined by NYS RPTL §550 (2) (h) the payment was not applied to the property’s school tax bill. This error was brought to the attention of the Rensselaerville Assessor after the paid school tax was incorrection included on the 2026 property tax bill. This error is a Clerical Error as defined by NYS RPTL §550 (2) (h).
Real Property Tax Law §554 allows for the correction of clerical errors made on the assessment and tax rolls. I recommend that the Albany County Legislature approve the correction to the tax rolls and authorize the reissue of corrected bill in the amount of $3,245.47.
