DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)
The Department of Management and Budget requests the County Legislature’s approval and support of a plan to apply for the NYS Dept. of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation PLAYS grant. Our current estimate for the grant request is $600,000, plus a 20% County match requirement, for a total project cost of $750,000. If awarded, the proposed plan will fund the design, construction, major renovation, and equipment, along with other related Capital Costs necessary to effectuate the NY PLAYS Initiative for a playground at Lawson’s Lake. Per the grant’s application terms, each proposed project must demonstrate support from the relevant legislative body. There is no cost to the County associated with the application process.
