DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)
The Crime Victim & Sexual Violence Center (CVSVC) previously received a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant award from the New York State Office of Victim Services (OVS) in the amount of $1,310,153 for the period of October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2028, as authorized by Resolution 26-321. OVS has since issued an updated award letter to CVSVC for the same grant term, increasing the total award to $2,019,775.38 ($1,009,887.69 per year for two years).
These funds will support salaries and fringe benefits for staff providing direct services to crime victims, including clinical therapy, court advocacy, case management, victim assistance hotline operations, and emergency room accompaniment. The award will also cover operating expenses such as office supplies, staff mileage reimbursement, printing costs, and the purchase of new computer equipment for the department. As these costs are already reflected in the approved budget for 2026 and the proposed budget for 2027, no budget modification is required.
CVSVC respectfully seeks legislative authorization to execute an agreement with OVS and accept the revised funding award.
