AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE OFFICE OF MENTAL HEALTH'S SUICIDE PREVENTION CENTER AND THE RESEARCH FOUNDATION FOR MENTAL HYGIENE REGARDING THE 2025-2026 CARES UP SUSTAINABILITY GRANT AND AMENDING THE 2025 SHERIFF'S OFFICE BUDGET

By Public Safety Committee, Willingham and Ethier:

 

WHEREAS, The Albany County Sheriff has requested authorization to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Mental Health’s Suicide Prevention Center and the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene regarding the 2025-2026 Cares Up Sustainability Grant in an amount of $40,000 for a term commencing April 1, 2025 and ending March 31, 2027, and

 

WHEREAS, The Albany County Sheriff has indicated that the aforementioned grant funds will be used to assist in the renewal of the Sheriff’s Office Wellness App, PEER Team training, and administrative support, and

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested a budget amendment to incorporate the aforementioned funding into the 2025 Sheriff’s Office Budget, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Mental Health’s Suicide Prevention Center and the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene regarding the 2025-2026 Cares Up Sustainability Grant in an amount of $40,000 for a term commencing April 1, 2025 and ending March 31, 2027, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the 2025 Sheriff’s Office Budget is amended as follows:

 

 

 

and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
