AUTHORIZING INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENTS REGARDING THE UPGRADING OF VOLUNTEER FIRE TRAINING TOWERS

WHEREAS, The County Executive has requested authorization to enter into intergovernmental agreements with the local volunteer fire departments in the Town of Colonie, the Town of Guilderland and the hilltowns in an amount not to exceed $900,000, with $300,000 going to the Town of Colonie, $500,000 going to the Town of Guilderland and $100,000 going to the hilltowns, and
WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that these volunteer fire departments are in desperate need of financial support to close the gap, in combination with local and state funds, to complete the upgrades to their training facilities to ensure personnel are well prepared for their duties, as well as to assist in recruitment and retention of volunteers, and
WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that the funding will come from the Albany County Improvement Initiative, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, that the County Executive is authorized to enter into intergovernmental agreements with the local volunteer fire departments in the Town of Colonie, the Town of Guilderland and the hilltowns in an amount not to exceed $900,000, with $300,000 going to the Town of Colonie, $500,000 going to the Town of Guilderland and $100,000 going to the hilltowns, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreements as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of the resolution the appropriate County Officials.
