AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH EQUINOX, INC. REGARDING NON-RESIDENTIAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES

By Social Services Committee, Messrs. A. Joyce, Feeney, Beston, Bruschi, Ms. Chapman, Messrs. Clay, Cleary, Commisso, Domalewicz, Efekoro, Ethier, Fein, Kuhn, Ms. Lekakis, Mr. Mayo, Mss. McLaughlin, Mclean Lane, Mr. Miller, Ms. Plotsky, Messrs. Reidy, Reinhardt, Ricard, Simpson, Smith, Touchette, Ward and Ms. Willingham:

 

                     WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Albany County Department of Social Services has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with Equinox, Inc. as a state-qualified provider of non-residential services to victims of domestic violence in the amount of $173,877 for a term commencing January 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2022, and

 

                     WHEREAS, Equinox, Inc. provides core services mandated by New York State to include a 24-hour domestic violence hotline and walk-in assistance center, domestic violence residential placements, information and referral, advocacy, counseling and outreach/education services to victims residing in the community and in non-domestic violence shelter facilities, and

 

WHEREAS, Equinox, Inc. will also provide non-core expanded advocacy services to 25 Temporary Assistance for Needy Families -eligible victims of domestic violence to include accompaniment to legal system entities, health care facilities, social welfare system agencies and other community service providers, now, therefore be it

 

                     RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with Equinox, Inc., Albany, NY 12206 regarding the provision of non-residential services to victims of domestic violence in an amount not to exceed $173,877, or at a rate subsequently promulgated by New York State Office of Children and Family Services, for a term commencing January 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2022, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
