DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)
Pursuant to RFB# 2026-050 Albany County Rail Trail Building Renovation, General Services is requesting authorization for a contract with MA Shafer Construction, Inc. with a not to exceed amount of $248,400.
This phase of the project will reposition the old Freight Depot building standing at 839 Kenwood Avenue in Slingerlands, along the Albany County Rail Trail and address the deteriorating foundation.
Portions of the cost of this phase of the project will be covered by matching funds from the County’s awarded County Infrastructure Grant Program, Project # 139,249 and designated funds through MVP’s Innovation Partnership.
This project is included in the 2025 Capital Plan, and a portion of the County’s matching funds may be covered by bond HHG8, Res No 144 of 2025 dated April 14, 2025.
The projected term of this contract is July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028.
This proposed project meets the criteria established for SEQR Type II actions pursuant to 6 NYCRR 617.5(c) subdivision (1)(31). Accordingly, this action has been determined not to have a significant impact on the environment, and as such, no procedural compliance with SEQR beyond this determination is required at this time.
