DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)


The Albany County Department of Health (ACDOH) requests authorization to enter into a contract with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) for the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. ACDOH is requesting authorization to contract with NYSDOH from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2031 for $3,026,000. All revenues and expenditures for the annual award of $605,200 were anticipated and included in the 2026 Health Department budget.

 

This program provides for collaboration with local health care providers to assess children’s risk of lead exposure, blood lead testing, anticipatory guidance to prevent lead poisoning, diagnostic evaluation, medical management including risk reduction education, environmental interventions, and coordination of services for children less than 18 years old with elevated blood lead levels.
