AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES REGARDING THE 2024-2025 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS GRANT PROGRAM AND AMENDING THE 2025 SHERIFF'S OFFICE BUDGET

WHEREAS, The Albany County Sheriff has requested authorization to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding the 2024-2025 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant Program in an amount of $16,000, with a $4,000 County match, for a term commencing March 1, 2025 and ending September 30, 2025, and

 

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that the Sheriff’s Office will act as fiduciary for the Capital Region Hazmat Group which includes Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady Counties, and

 

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that the funding will assist with travel and registration costs related to the support and enhancement of the Regional HazMat Team, and

 

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested a budget amendment to incorporate the 2024-2025 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant Program funding into the 2025 Sheriff’s Office Budget, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding the 2024-2025 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant funding in an amount of $16,000, with a $4,000 County match, for a term commencing March 1, 2025 and ending September 30, 2025, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the 2025 Sheriff’s Office Budget is amended as follows:

 

 

and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
