DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)
The Department of Public Works respectfully requests the Legislature’s approval of an agreement with the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee to accept grant funding for participation in the New York State Highway Safety Program. Albany County has been awarded $106,500.00 in grant funding by the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee for the program period of October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. The grant funds will be used to support a portion of the Traffic Safety Instructor’s salary and fringe benefits, purchase traffic safety signs, and cover costs associated with attendance at Traffic Safety Conferences.
