DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)
The Department of Public Works respectfully requests the Legislature's approval to enter into an agreement with Fisher Associates in the amount of $320,400.00 to provide design and construction inspection services for guide rail installation at various locations throughout Albany County. The Department of Public works solicited proposals from consultants on the Region 1 Local Design Services Agreement List to prepare and submit an application for Roadway Departure Safety Action Plan funding. The selected consultant would prepare the grant application on behalf of the County and, if the application was successful, provide the required design and construction inspection services for the project. The Department received 5 proposals. After a thorough evaluation, the Department’s engineering staff determined that Fisher Associates was the most qualified firm based on its successful track record of securing funding for similar projects in previous years. Fisher Associates prepared and submitted the grant application, with a project total of $1,540,000.00, which was successfully awarded $1,463,000.00 to fund design, construction and construction inspection services. The project is 95% State funded.
