DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)

Requesting authorization to enter into a grant distribution contract with broadband providers ArchTop Fiber and StateTel to disburse Empire State Development grant funds. This action will enable us to distribute funds from Empire State Development to internet service providers (ISPs) that are part of the Albany County Broadband Infrastructure Project.

The completion of this project, along with other projects in the Albany County Broadband Infrastructure Project pipeline, will bring the total coverage of high-speed internet in Albany County to approximately 95% of County residents.
