DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)

In 2020, New York State passed Bail Reform Legislation. Bail Reform allows Courts to release defendants under non-monetary conditions which include GPS. This allows courts to order enhanced Pre-Trial Release, including electronic monitoring. The Probation Department also provides GPS services to other courts in Albany County which may include Youth Court and Family Court under recent legislation entitled Raise the Age. GPS service may also be ordered to other high-risk offenders which may include sex offenders and gun involved individuals.
