Justification: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)

The MVP Arena respectfully requests funding authorization in the amount of $2,500,000 for the installation of East & West Side Stairwell Enclosure. This initial expense will be essentially centered in design and structural engineering evaluations. The following investment will assist in keeping the facility looking more appealing by keeping wildlife and any unauthorized persons out. The project will also promote energy savings for the adjoined areas. The total project is estimated to cost $2,500,000.

The stairwells on the East & West side of the arena have been unsightly due to being unable to keep wildlife out. There have been multiple attempts by several means with no success. Enclosing these stairwells will allow us to keep animals out. It will also provide an extra level of security and utility savings to the adjacent area. There are multiple railings that are determined due to street salt and weather damage. There are various concrete steps/ facades that need reconstruction or replacing around the entire property. The concrete and railing replacement/ design are anticipated to start in 2024.

This project has been included in the 2023 Capital Plan.

Bond authorization for this project was previously approved.  This new authorization will allow flexibility with funding options.
