DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: (state briefly why legislative action is requested)
To accept grant funding from NYSOFA for the Nutrition Services Incentive Program (NSIP). This provides additional funding used exclusively to purchase food. This funding is to provide both congregate and home delivered meal nutrition services and gives emphasis to foods of high nutritional value to support the health of older adults residing in Albany County. This reimbursement is based on the number of eligible meals provided to eligible recipients. Meals must meet NYSOFA / DFA requirements and must be served to eligible participants. The reporting unit at NYSOFA conducts a federally required meal count verification annually, which determines the overall grant amount.
