AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES REGARDING THE 2025 GUN INVOLVED VIOLENCE ELIMINATION GRANT AND AMENDING THE 2025 SHERIFF'S OFFICE BUDGET

                                          WHEREAS, The Albany County Sheriff has requested authorization to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) Initiative in the amount of $430,110 for the term commencing July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2026, and

 

                                          WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that the GIVE Initiative is a partnership between the Sheriff’s Office, New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, the Probation Department, and the City of Albany Police Department, and that funding will assist with the costs involved in having a full-time individual assigned to the Albany-based Capital Region Crime Analysis Center, as well as individuals assigned to the Sheriff’s Albany Detail as it relates to the GIVE Initiative, and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested a budget amendment to incorporate the aforementioned funding, now, therefore, be it

 

                                          RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding the Gun Involved Violence Elimination Initiative in the amount of $430,110 for the term commencing July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2026, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the 2025 Sheriff’s Office Budget is hereby amended as follows:

 

 

and, be it further

 

                                          RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                                          RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
