AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF NEW YORK, DIVISION OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES REGARDING THE 2021-2022 STATEWIDE INTEROPERABILITY COMMUNICATIONS GRANT-FORMULA BASED FUNDING AND AMENDING THE 2022 SHERIFF'S OFFICE BUDGET

By Public Safety Committee:

WHEREAS, The Albany County Sheriff has requested authorization to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for the combined 2021/2022 Statewide Interoperability Communications Grant-Formula Based Funding in an amount of $2,365,306 for a term commencing January 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2024, and

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that the aforementioned grant funds will be utilized to purchase upgrades to our Countywide Interoperable Communications System, annual maintenance for P-25 compliant equipment and P-25 compliant portable radios, and
WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested a budget amendment to incorporate the aforementioned grant funding into the 2022 Sheriff's Office Budget, now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for the combined 2021/2022 Statewide Interoperability Communications Grant-Formula Based Funding in an amount of $2,365,306 for a term commencing January 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2024, and, be it further

RESOLVED, That the 2022 Sheriff's Office Budget is hereby amended as follows:

Increase Revenue Account A3306 Homeland Security by $2,365,306

Increase Appropriation Account A3110.2 by $2,365,306 by increasing Line Item A3110 2 2100 Communication Equipment by $2,365,306
