AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSION REGARDING THE DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES, HOME ECONOMICS AND PROGRAMS IN ALBANY COUNTY

WHEREAS, The Cooperative Extension Association of Albany County has been duly organized by and with the consent of Cornell University and is cooperating with the State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, New York State College of Human Ecology, and New York State College of Veterinary Sciences regarding community resources development, home economics, and 4-H in this County and it has assumed local responsibility for educational programs relating to the betterment of individuals, families, and communities in Albany County, and
WHEREAS, The State Legislature has provided funds to be expended in Albany County in 2026, and Cornell University has set aside federal funds to be expended for each Cooperative Extension agent in the Agriculture, Home Economics, and Community Resources Development and 4-H Divisions, to assist in paying the salary of each of said agents in each county, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the sum of $1,397,468 be appropriated and paid in quarterly installments toward the maintenance of the Cooperative Extension Association of Albany County for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2026, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with the Cooperative Extension Association of Albany County for the term January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
