RESOLUTION NO. 162

 

AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES REGARDING THE 2025 VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM AND AMENDING THE 2026 SHERIFF'S OFFICE BUDGET

By Public Safety Committee, Simpson and Willingham:

 

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding the 2025 Violence Intervention Program in an amount of $500,000 for a term commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027, and

 

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that the funding will be used to strengthen public safety and law enforcement efforts in the City of Albany, including offsetting the costs and expenses associated with personnel and non-personnel services and equipment, and

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested a budget amendment to incorporate the aforementioned funding into the 2026 Sheriff’s Office Budget, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding the 2025 Violence Intervention Program in an amount of $500,000 for a term commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the 2026 Sheriff’s Office Budget is hereby amended as follows:

 

 

and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
