AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDING AND AMENDING THE 2025 DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES BUDGET

By Social Services Committee:
WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department of Social Services has been notified by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services that American Rescue Plan Act grant funding is available to enhance, improve, and expand Adult Protective Services (APS) in the amount of $14,401 for a term commencing December 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has indicated that the funding will be used to enhance, improve, and expand the ability of APS to investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation by hiring additional staff, purchasing protective equipment, promoting the use of telehealth services, and providing rental assistance, transportation, and meal delivery, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has also requested a 2025 Department of Social Services budget amendment to appropriate the aforementioned grant funding in the amount of $14,401, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the 2025 Department of Social Services Budget is amended as follows:
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
