AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES REGARDING THE 2021 EXPLOSIVE DETECTION CANINE TEAM GRANT AND AMENDING THE 2024 SHERIFF'S OFFICE BUDGET

WHEREAS, The Albany County Sheriff has requested authorization to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding the 2021 Explosive Detection Canine Team Grant in an amount of $15,000 for a term commencing April 1, 2024 and ending August 31, 2025, and
WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated the grant funding will be used to sustain and enhance capabilities for a previously developed explosive detection canine team, and
WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested a budget amendment to incorporate the aforementioned funding into the 2024 Sheriff’s Office Budget, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding the 2021 Explosive Detection Canine Team Grant in an amount of $15,000 for a term commencing April 1, 2024 and ending August 31, 2025, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the 2024 Sheriff’s Office Budget is amended as follows:
Increase Revenue Account A3110 0 3306 Homeland Security by $15,000
Increase Appropriation Account A3110.2 by $15,000 by increasing Line Item A3110 2 2750 Security Equipment by $15,000
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said grant application and agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
