AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH BUREAU OF COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND FOOD PROTECTION REGARDING THE LEAD RENTAL REGISTRY PROGRAM

WHEREAS, The Interim Commissioner of the Albany County Department of Health (ACDOH) has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Community Environmental Health and Food Protection to accept Lead Rental Registry Program funding in the amount of $848,000 per year for a total amount of $4,240,000 for a five-year term commencing April 1, 2024 and ending March 31, 2029, and
WHEREAS, ACDOH has indicated that it will utilize this funding to raise public awareness of the Lead Rental Registry, identify at-risk communities within the County, provide clear guidance to property owners, mandate lead safety certifications for rental properties, and prioritize preventative measures to ensure lead-safe rental units to mitigate lead exposure in children, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with New York State Department of Health Bureau of Community Environmental Health and Food Protection to accept Lead Rental Registry Program funding in the amount of $848,000 per year for a total amount of $4,240,000 for a five-year term commencing April 1, 2024 and ending March 31, 2029, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
