AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH MOTION INDUSTRIES FOR THE PURCHASE OF A TRUCK MOUNTED MESSAGE SIGN AND AMENDING THE 2023 DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BUDGET

By Public Safety Committee:

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department of Public Works has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with Motion Industries for the purchase of a truck mounted message sign in an amount not to exceed $12,427 for a term commencing November 1, 2023 and ending May 31, 2024, and

WHEREAS, The Department of Public Works, through the County Purchasing Agent, utilizing the National Joint Purchasing Alliance has recommended Motion Industries for the purchase of a truck mounted message sign, and

WHEREAS, The Commissioner has indicated that the message sign will be used on various County roads to notify motorists of work such as mowing, striping, and patching of asphalt being performed on roadways, and will improve safety for work crews and motorists in high traffic areas, and

WHEREAS, The Commissioner has also indicated that a 2023 Department of Public Works Budget amendment is necessary for the purchase, now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with Motion Industries, Albany, NY 12205 for the purchase of a truck mounted message sign in an amount not to exceed $12,427 for a term commencing November 1, 2023 and ending May 31, 2024, and, be it further

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, that the 2023 Department of Public Works Budget is amended as follows:

Decrease Appropriation Account D5020.4 by $12,427 by decreasing line item D5020 4 4004 Road Striping by $12,427

Increase Appropriation Account D5110.2 by $12,427 by increasing line item D5110 2 2080 Specialty Equipment by $12,427

and, be it further

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
