AUTHORIZING AGREEMENTS REGARDING THE EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AND AMENDING THE 2021 DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES BUDGET

WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 148 for 2021, this Honorable Body authorized an agreement with New York State Office of Temporary Disability Assistance (OTDA) regarding the administration of the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) in the amount of $9,061,754 for a term commencing January 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022, and
WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 203 for 2021, this Honorable Body authorized acceptance of grant funding regarding the administration of the ERAP in the amount of $906,176 for the term commencing January 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Albany County Department of Social Services has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with the OTDA for the acceptance of additional funding to provide ERAP related services, information, and assistance to households at risk of eviction in the amount of $375,000 for a term commencing January 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has also requested authorization to enter into an agreement with the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York for the provision of legal services to ERAP applicants and to assist them with accessing the New York State portal for benefits submission in the amount of $125,000 for a term commencing January 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has also indicated that a budget amendment is necessary to incorporate the aforementioned grant funding into the 2021 Department of Social Services budget, now, therefore be it
