AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH MVP HEALTH CARE REGARDING NAMING RIGHTS FOR THE TIMES UNION CENTER

 

                     Introduced:  12/6/21

                     By Public Works Committee and Mr. Miller:

 

                     WHEREAS, The County Executive’s Office and ASM Global, working in conjunction with the Albany County Purchasing Agent, developed and disseminated a Request for Proposals (RFP) to allow interested organizations to compete for title sponsorship of the Times Union Center, and

 

WHEREAS, MVP Health Care submitted a proposal to name the Times Union Center the “MVP Arena,” said proposal was evaluated by the Executive’s Office and ASM Global, and recommended as the best deal for the County, now, therefore, be it

 

                     RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into a five-year agreement with MVP Health Care, Schenectady, NY 12305, regarding the naming of the Times Union Center as the MVP Arena in an amount of $600,000, and regarding a Cash Innovation Fund in an amount of $1,400,000 payable to Albany County for community programs, payable in equal annual installments for a term commencing January 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2026, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That said agreement will reflect the commitments made by MVP Health Care in responding to the RFP, to include but not limited to incurring the cost of changing all signage and naming materials, paying all costs associated with rebranding the arena, and to provide valuable marketing benefits in accordance with the proposal submitted, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney shall approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
