AUTHORIZING A CHANGE TO THE PROCUREMENT POLICY LANGUAGE TO ALLOW THE COUNTY TO JOIN NEW YORK STATE'S GREEN PURCHASING COMMUNITY

WHEREAS, Albany County recognizes the importance of adopting environmentally-responsible practices in its procurement processes, and
WHEREAS, Participation in New York State’s Green Purchasing Community aligns with the County’s objectives to reduce environmental impact and prioritize products that contribute to public health, and
WHEREAS, The attached language outlining the Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Procedure has been carefully reviewed and is deemed essential to enhance the County’s commitment to sustainability, now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Procurement Policy language has been changed to allow the County to join New York State’s Green Purchasing Community, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve this change as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate Municipal and County Officials.
Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Procedure
Where Albany County is procuring a commodity or service, whether by competitive bid or other type of procurement, that is the subject of a GreenNY procurement specification that has received final approval of the NYS GreenNY Council pursuant to Executive Order No. 22 (2022), the purchaser shall follow the GreenNY procurement specification to the maximum extent practicable and where cost is reasonably competitive as defined in General Municipal Law § 104-a.
