AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES REGARDING THE HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT PROGRAM AND AMENDING THE 2022 ALBANY COUNTY BUDGET

By Audit and Finance Committee:

WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 230 for 2021, this Honorably Body authorized the County Executive to submit a grant application to the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds for Presidential Disaster Declaration DR-4567, and,

WHEREAS, The County Executive has requested authorization to accept a funding award from the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds for Presidential Disaster Declaration DR-4567, in the amount of $180,000 for a term commencing December 1, 2022 and ending March 31, 2025, and

WHEREAS, The County Executive indicated that such funding will be used to update Albany County's Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan, which provides a hazard identification and risk/vulnerability assessment, mitigation strategies, and plan maintenance to all 17 municipalities within the County, and consists of agencies, stakeholders and public participation, and

WHEREAS, The County Executive further indicated that such funding requires a 10% County match, and would be used to support updates to the County's multi-hazard mitigation plan, enhance the County's resiliency posture, avoid loss of life and reduce damages to properties, and

WHEREAS, A budget amendment is necessary in order to incorporate said funding into the 2022 Albany County Budget, now, therefore, be it
