CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF THE ALBANY COUNTY HISTORIAN AND AMENDING THE 2023 ALBANY COUNTY BUDGET

WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that a vacancy exists in the position of Albany County Historian, and has recommended John J. "Jack" McEneny, whose accomplished career as a public servant, author, and historian make him an excellent fit for this position, and
WHEREAS, The County Executive has requested confirmation of the appointment of John J. "Jack" McEneny to the position of Albany County Historian, in accordance with Section 1605 of the County Charter, and
WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that a budget amendment is necessary to provide the appointee with an annual stipend of $15,000 to assist with the inherent costs associated with membership fees, travel, conferences, and other related activities, and
WHEREAS, The Albany County Legislature recognizes the significant role of the County Historian as Albany County organizes celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, and find it appropriate to allocate $15,000 to support such efforts as recommended by the County Historian, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that John J. "Jack" McEneny is hereby appointed to the title of Albany County Historian, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the 2023 Albany County Budget is amended as follows:
Decrease Appropriation Account A8020.4 by $16,148 by decreasing Line Item A8020 4 4976 Albany County Improvement Initiative by $16,148
Increase Appropriation Account A8020.1 by $15,000 by creating and increasing Line Item A8020 1 2624 County Historian by $15,000
Increase Appropriation Account A8020.8 by $1,148 by increasing Line Item A8020 8 9030 Social Security by $1,148
Decrease Appropriation Account A1010.4 by $15,000 by decreasing Line Item A1010 4 4011 Community Dev.Pub. Hlth Safety by $15,000
