AUTHORIZING AGREEMENTS WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES REGARDING AID TO DEFENSE GRANT FUNDING AND AMENDING THE 2025 ALBANY COUNTY BUDGET

WHEREAS, The Public Defender, Alternate Public Defender, and Assigned Counsel Program Administrator have requested authorization to enter into agreements with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding the Aid to Defense for Discovery Reform and Aid to Defense - Supplemental Programs in the amount of $1,360,697 for a term commencing April 1, 2025 and ending March 31, 2026, and
WHEREAS, The Public Defender, Alternate Public Defender, and Assigned Counsel Program Administrator have also requested an amendment to the 2025 Albany County Budget in order to incorporate a portion of the aforementioned funding into their respective office budgets, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into agreements with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding the Aid to Defense for Discovery Reform and Aid to Defense - Supplemental Programs in the amount of $1,360,697 for a term commencing April 1, 2025 and ending March 31, 2026, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the 2025 Albany County Budget is amended as follows:
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreements as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
