AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE OFFICE OF INDIGENT LEGAL SERVICES REGARDING THE DISTRIBUTION #14 GRANT

WHEREAS, The Public Defender, on behalf of the Public Defender’s Office, Alternate Public Defender’s Office, and Assigned Counsel Program, has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services regarding the Distribution #14 grant in the amount of $1,573,455 over a three-year term commencing January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2026, and
WHEREAS, The Public Defender indicated that this funding will provide salary and fringe support for three attorneys representing indigent clients in family court and one attorney representing indigent clients in criminal court in addition to salary support for the Assigned Counsel Program Administrator, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services regarding the Distribution #14 grant in the amount of $1,573,455 over a three-year term commencing January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2026, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
