AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT AND AMENDING THE 2026 DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES BUDGET: NEW YORK STATE SHELTER ARREARS EVICTION FORESTALLMENT PROGRAM

By Social Services Committee:

 

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department of Social Services has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) to accept grant funding regarding the New York State Shelter Arrears Eviction Forestallment (SAEF) Program in the amount of $560,303 for a term commencing October 1, 2025 and ending September 30, 2026, and

 

WHEREAS, The Commissioner has indicated that the SAEF Program funding will be utilized to help Safety Net individuals and families, with or without children, residing in public housing and facing eviction while prioritizing households with children under six years of age, and

 

WHEREAS, The Commissioner has also indicated that a budget amendment is necessary to incorporate said funds into the 2026 Department of Social Services Budget, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with OTDA regarding the SAEF Program in the amount of $560,303 for a term commencing October 1, 2025 and ending September 30, 2026, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the 2026 Department of Social Services Budget is amended as follows:

 

 

and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve the said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
