AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 279 FOR 2000 REGARDING THE MODIFICATION TO THE FEE STRUCTURE FOR PARTICIPATION IN CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS AND WAIVING THE FEES FOR VETERANS TAKING OPEN COMPETITIVE OR PROMOTION EXAMS

WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 279 for 2000, this Honorable Body established a policy that both State and County fees charged by Albany County for Civil Service promotional exams taken by Albany County Employees for Albany County positions and open competitive exams taken by Albany County employees for Albany County positions be waived, and
WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 490 for 2010, this Honorable Body amended this modification to indicate that employees are required to pay for exam booklets if they take more than two exams in a one-year period, and
WHEREAS, The Director of the Department of Civil Service has requested an amendment to the Civil Service exam fee structure so that both State and County fees charged by Albany County for all categories of Civil Service exams taken by military veterans for Albany County positions be waived, and that any and all fees required to be paid to the State shall by paid by the County of Albany, and
WHEREAS, The Director stated that these individuals possess unique skills and that reducing barriers to entering the County workforce would benefit the County and the veteran applicants, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that Resolution No. 279 for 2000, as amended, is hereby amended to indicate that that both State and County fees charged by Albany County for all categories of Civil Service exams taken by military veterans for Albany County positions be waived, and that any and all fees required to be paid to the State shall by paid by the County of Albany, and, be it further
