AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY REGARDING THE 2023 PORT SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM INITIATIVE

WHEREAS, The Albany County Sheriff has requested authorization for the submission of a grant application to the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and Grant Programs Directorate regarding the 2023 Port Security Grant Program Initiative in an amount up to $1,000,000 for the term commencing October 1, 2023 and ending September 30, 2026, and
WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that this funding, which requires a 25% County match, will be used to enhance maritime security through cybersecurity and protection of soft targets and crowded places in alignment with the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of Port Risk Assessment, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and Grant Programs Directorate regarding the 2023 Port Security Grant Program Initiative in an amount up to $1,000,000 for the term commencing October 1, 2023 and ending September 30, 2026, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said grant application as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
