RESOLUTION NO. 154
REQUESTING THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE PROVIDE SECURITY AT THE ALBANY COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS

WHEREAS, The Board of Elections is responsible for the operation and maintenance of numerous local elections throughout the County of Albany, and is regularly open to the public to participate in the electoral process, and
WHEREAS, The safety and security of the public accessing voting services and the county employees providing such services is fundamental to a healthy and functioning democratic process, and
WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 578 for 2022, this Honorable Body authorized the County Executive to enter into an agreement with Siena Fence Co., Inc., for the construction of a fence at 260 South Pearl Street in the City of Albany to enhance the property and better serve the needs of the Board and the voters of Albany County, and
WHEREAS, Security guards are available at the entrance of many of the public-facing County buildings, and they should be available at the entrance to the Board of Elections as well, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, that the County Executive is hereby requested to provide for security at the Board of Elections, 260 South Pearl Street in the City of Albany similar to that which is provided at other public-facing County facilities, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Executive shall report back to the County Legislature on the status of security at the Board of Elections no later than sixty (60) days following the adoption of this Resolution, and
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward
certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
