AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSION REGARDING THE PROVISION OF JUVENILE JUSTICE PREVENTION SERVICES

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department for Children, Youth and Families has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with Cornell Cooperative Extension regarding the provision of juvenile justice prevention services for the Strengthening Families and Urban 4-H Programs in the amount of $117,135 for a term commencing January 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2023, with an additional one-year option to renew, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has indicated that the Strengthening Families program is an evidenced-based program that utilizes a parent, youth, and family skills-building curriculum designed to strengthen parenting skills, build family strengths, and prevent teen substance abuse and other behavior problems, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has also indicated that the Urban 4-H program will be conducted in such topic areas as forensics, gardening, environmental education, animal science, food preparation and healthy eating, and career exploration, and is available to youth who are at risk of detention and foster care placement and their families, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Voorheesville, NY 12186 regarding the Strengthening Families and Urban 4-H Programs in the amount of $117,135 for a term commencing January 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2023, with an additional one-year option to renew, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
