AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH BERKSHIRE FARMS AND FAMILY CENTER REGARDING NON-SECURE DETENTION SERVICES

WHEREAS, Pursuant to the NYS Social Service law, it is the County’s responsibility to provide non-secure detention assistance for court ordered services, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department of Children, Youth and Families has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with Berkshire Farms and Family Center for the provision of non-secure detention beds and aftercare services for court ordered youth in an amount not to exceed $961,020 for the term commencing January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2021, with two one-year renewal options, and
WHEREAS, The Department for Children, Youth and Families has developed a cost-effective means to provide non-secure detention services and aftercare services for Albany County male and female JDs ages 7-17 years old that have been brought to the facility by a local police agency or remanded to the facility by Albany County Family Court, now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with Berkshire Farms and Family Center regarding non-secure detention services in an amount not to exceed $961,020, with a local share of 51%, for the term commencing January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2021, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
