AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH INTERFAITH PARTNERSHIP FOR THE HOMELESS REGARDING EMERGENCY SHELTER SERVICES AT THE SISTER MAVIS JEWELL MEDICAL RESPITE FOR THE HOMELESS

                     By Social Services Committee:

 

WHEREAS, Pursuant to New York State Social Services Law, local social services districts are required to provide emergency and transitional shelter to public assistance eligible homeless persons, and

 

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department of Social Services has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless regarding emergency shelter services at the Sister Mavis Jewell Medical Respite for the Homeless in an amount not to exceed $245,000 for a term commencing April 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2024, and

 

WHEREAS, Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless will operate the Sister Mavis Jewell Medical Respite for the Homeless, a 10 - bed emergency shelter facility,  and provide supportive services for individuals discharged from inpatient hospital settings, with no stable home to which they can safely return to recover from illness, surgery, or injury, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, Albany, NY 12210, regarding emergency shelter services at the Sister Mavis Jewell Medical Respite for the Homeless in an amount not to exceed $245,000 for a term commencing April 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2024, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
