AUTHORIZING AGREEMENTS WITH VARIOUS LEAD PARTNERS REGARDING THE COMPREHENSIVE OPIOID, STIMULANT, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM

By Audit and Finance Committee and Mr. Domalewicz:
WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 472 for 2020, this Honorable Body authorized entering into an agreement with the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs regarding the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program grant in the amount of $898,062 for the term commencing October 1, 2020 and ending September 30, 2023, and
WHEREAS, Such funding is to be used to support the Albany LEAD (Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion) program by adding case managers, a full time Project Director, and a Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator to improve coordination between partners and the public, increase public awareness, and develop policies and procedures to better serve LEAD communities, and
WHEREAS, The County Executive has now requested authorization to sub-award a portion of this funding to Albany LEAD partners, including the Public Defender Association/LEAD National Support Bureau, Catholic Charities Care Coordination Services, the Center for Law and Justice, and the Albany Police Department, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into agreements with the Public Defender Association/LEAD National Support Bureau, Seattle, Washington 98104; Catholic Charities Care Coordination Services, Albany, New York 12204; the Center for Law and Justice, Albany, New York 12204; and the Albany Police Department in connection with sub-awarding grant funds in the amount of $785,850 for the term commencing October 1, 2020 and ending September 30, 2023, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
