AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH TOGETHER FOR YOUTH REGARDING NON-SECURE DETENTION SERVICES

By Social Services Committee:

 

WHEREAS, Pursuant to New York State law, the County must provide non-secure detention assistance for court-ordered services, and

 

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with Together for Youth for the provision of non-secure detention beds and aftercare services for court-remanded youth in an amount not to exceed $1,152,323 for a term commencing January 1, 2025 and ending December 31, 2025, with an additional one-year option to renew, and

 

WHEREAS, Together for Youth, formerly Berkshire Farms and Family Center, has been the County’s provider of non-secure detention services for many years and worked in conjunction with DCYF, Probation, Family Court, and law enforcement to provide beds to male and female juvenile delinquents ages 12 to 17 years old who have been remanded to the facility by Family Court, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with Together for Youth, Canaan, NY 12029 regarding the provision of non-secure detention beds and aftercare services in an amount not to exceed $1,152,323 for a term commencing January 1, 2025 and ending December 31, 2025, with an additional one-year option to renew, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
