AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE REGARDING ONSITE SECURITY AND AMENDING THE 2026 DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES BUDGET

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department of Social Services (DSS) has requested authorization to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sheriff’s Office regarding onsite security at the DSS Building in the amount of $120,000 for a term commencing January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2026, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has indicated that the MOU will formalize the provision of security at 162 Washington Ave., and the assigned deputy will collaborate with City of Albany law enforcement and consult with DSS leadership to establish cohesive public safety response and interventions, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has also requested an amendment to the 2026 Department of Social Services Budget to appropriate funds for said security services, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to execute a Memorandum of Understanding between DSS and the Sheriff’s Office regarding onsite security at 162 Washington Ave. in the amount of $120,000 for a term commencing January 1, 2026, and ending December 31, 2026, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the 2026 Department of Social Services Budget is amended as follows:

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
