REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TO CONDUCT A COMPLETE STREETS STUDY REGARDING THE INTERSECTION OF COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL ROADS

WHEREAS, The County of Albany is responsible for the maintenance of its roadways, which may include providing greater pedestrian access and or compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and
WHEREAS, Likewise, various municipalities within the County of Albany are similarly charged with the maintenance of their own roads and sidewalks, and
WHEREAS, In a perfect world, due care would be given to the junctions at witch County and municipal roads meet, but our system of roads is decades in the making, largely dependent upon cars and not always consistent with today’s Complete Street approach that supports mobility for all users, whether they be drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists or public transportation riders, and
WHEREAS, Fifty Thousand Dollars was set aside in the 2024 Albany County Budget to undertake an analysis of these issues and the Department of Public Works has agreed to study these issues, now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Honorable Body requests that the Department of Public Works conduct a Complete Streets study for County Roads at their junction with municipal or state owned roads so as to determine if improvements could be made, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Department of General Services report its findings by _____________, 20__ so that, if feasible, and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
