RESOLUTION NO. 551

 

AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH INTERFAITH PARTNERSHIP FOR THE HOMELESS REGARDING RENOVATION AND STAFF ORIENTATION AT MERCY HOUSE IN THE CITY OF ALBANY

                     By Audit and Finance Committee:

 

WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 503 for 2023, this Honorable Body authorized an agreement with Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless regarding emergency and transitional shelter services at Mercy House in the amount of $666,120 for a term commencing January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2024, and

 

WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that additional funding is necessary in order for the purchase of furniture, repairs, paint, general maintenance, and staff orientation for the re-opening of Mercy House, and

 

WHEREAS, The County Executive has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless in order to facilitate the necessary fix-up costs and renovations needed to operate the shelter, which will operate as a 20-bed facility and will assist residents in securing permanent housing or appropriate residential placement, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, Albany, NY 12210, regarding the purchase of furniture, repairs, paint, general maintenance, and staff orientation for the re-opening of Mercy House, in an amount not to exceed $250,000, for a term commencing immediately and ending December 31, 2024, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
