RESOLUTION NO. 243
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION ALONG THE ALBANY COUNTY HELDERBERG-HUDSON RAIL TRAIL

By Public Works Committee and Mr. Miller:
WHEREAS, Theresa McTague, a local artist and educator from Voorheesville, NY, has proposed the construction and installation of a 4’ x 8’ permanent public art platform and mural to be installed on the Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail and maintained by the Village of Voorheesville, at no cost to the County, and
WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that the two-sided structure will be located near a storage facility located at 62 Voorheesville Avenue, with the mural created on one side, and on the other side a chalkboard that invites members of the public to draw their own creations, and
WHEREAS, The County Executive has also indicated that while the structure itself would remain in the same place, the artwork would continually be replaced on an annual basis, and participation from local artists would be encouraged as opportunities for young artists to express themselves, now, therefore be it,
RESOLVED, That the County Executive is authorized to execute any necessary documents to permit the project to move forward at no cost to the County, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said documents as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
