MAKING A SEQR DETERMINATION AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF PARCELS OF REAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF ALBANY

By Audit and Finance Committee:

WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 489 for 2024, this Honorable Body authorized the County Executive to purchase various parcels of real property from Albany LLC in order to develop a regional fire tower training facility, in an amount not to exceed $1,100,000, and

WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that upon further review such parcels have proven unsuitable for the fire tower project, and therefore the County has not moved forward with the purchase, and

WHEREAS, The County Executive has requested authorization to purchase the following parcels of real property located in the City of Albany from the Albany Port District Commission for an amount not to exceed $1,100,000:

877 S Pearl Street (Tax Map No. 87.9-3-2)
13 Binghamton Street (Tax Map No. 87.10-2-3.1)
13 Binghamton Street (Tax Map No. 87.14-1-6)

, and

WHEREAS, The County Executive has further indicated that a feasibility study of these parcels is currently being conducted to ensure it is a suitable location for this project and will not proceed with a purchase unless the feasibility study comes back with a positive recommendation, and

WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that said purchase will allow for the establishment of a regional police and firefighter training facility, and

WHEREAS, This purchase has been designated an Unlisted action pursuant to the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), and

WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that a full Environmental Assessment Form has been completed and, after review, it has been recommended that the Legislature determine that this action will not have a significant adverse impact on the environment, now, therefore, be it
