AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 184 FOR 2024 REGARDING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE OFFICE OF INDIGENT LEGAL SERVICES FOR THE DISTRIBUTION #11 GRANT AND AMENDING THE 2025 PUBLIC DEFENDER BUDGET

WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 184 for 2024, this Honorable Body authorized an agreement with the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services (NYSILS) regarding the Distribution #11 grant to support salary and fringe for three attorneys representing indigent clients in family court proceedings in the amount of $1,573,455 for a term commencing January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2023, and
WHEREAS, The Public Defender has requested an amendment to the aforementioned agreement to reflect an ending date of December 31, 2026 rather than December 31, 2023, and
WHEREAS, The Public Defender has also requested an amendment to the 2025 Public Defender Budget to fully utilize funds provided by the grant, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that Resolution No. 184 for 2024 is hereby amended to reflect an ending date of December 31, 2026, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the 2025 Public Defender Budget is hereby amended as follows:
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said amendment as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
