AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF NEW YORK STATE CONSOLIDATED HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FUNDING FOR COUNTY ROAD MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR AND AMENDING THE 2024 DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BUDGET

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department of Public Works has requested authorization to accept New York State Department of Transportation Consolidated Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funding for County road maintenance and repair, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner has also requested authorizing to amend the 2024 Department of Public Works budget in the amount of $3,098,162, and
WHEREAS, The County has received a yearly apportionment for State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2024-2025 in the amount of $4,828,490, and
WHEREAS, The County has been informed by the New York State Department of Transportation that the County has rollover CHIPS funds remaining from SFY 2023-2024 of $2,769,672, and
WHEREAS, $4,500,000 of the total CHIPS funding was anticipated in the 2024 Albany County budget, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the Department of Public Works is authorized to accept New York State Department of Transportation CHIPS funding for SFY 2024-2025 in the amount of $4,828,490, and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the 2024 Department of Public Works Budget is amended as follows:
Increase Revenue Account D5112 0 3591 Highway Capital Project by $3,098,162
Increase Appropriation Account D5112.4 by $3,098,162 by increasing Line Item D5112 4 4075 Bridge and Road Repair by $3,098,162
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
