AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE VERA INSTITUTE OF JUSTICE REGARDING THE NEW YORK STATE BAIL REFORM ANALYSIS

 

                     Introduced:  2/10/20

                     By Public Safety Committee:

 

WHEREAS, The Director of the Department of Probation has requested authorization to execute a memorandum of understanding with the VERA Institute of Justice regarding the New York State Bail Reform Analysis at no cost to the County for a term commencing January 1, 2020 and ending December 31, 2022, and

 

                     WHEREAS, This agreement will allow for the evaluation of the New York State Bail Reform and its impact on Counties outside of New York City, specifically upstate, central, and western New York to examine pretrial release and bail practices, now, therefore be it

 

                     RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to execute a memorandum of understanding with the VERA Institute of Justice, Brooklyn, NY 11232 regarding the New York State Bail Reform Analysis at no cost to the County for a term commencing January 1, 2020 and ending December 31, 2022 and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said memorandum of understanding as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
